Usenet for E-Mail Routing

• The Usenet maps published in the early 1980s were also the best available maps of UUCP.

• Although not intended for routing e-mail, they were widely used for that purpose.

• The real UUCP net was at least double the size of Usenet, including many UNIX hosts that did not have Netnews.

  • People used these Usenix maps to address their email.

  • More early Usenet maps can be found here.
